This would not be an amusing story if he had hurt or killed someone. But he didn't, so it is. What makes it so amusing is that after decimating the bank sign, he backed up, put the car in park, and then came into the bank lobby and calmly made a deposit before approaching a banker to tell him that his foot had become entangled in what I can only assume is a ridiculously long and unsafe iPod cord and, yes, he rammed his car into the sign.

There is an element that doesn't seem to match up here. How old was the man? And if old, is it likely that he's got an Ipod to begin with? Is he attempting to offer the impression that he is younger than he is by mentioning such a smart, hip device?
In conclusion, I offer that either
A- He is not old or
B- He does not possess an Ipod.
He is old and he does own an iPod. This incongruity only contributes to the overall amusement factor of the story. It does make sense, in my opinion, that an elderly man would opt for an extra long iPod cord, especially if the short cord and the long cord both cost about the same.
